Second blog suggestion for news is the historian Dr. Heather Cox Richardson. Her daily “Letters from an American” are a mix of present political and historical perspective. I first ran into her on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/heathercoxrichardson), and continue most of my interaction with her daily post there. In case she gets shadowbanned (and several people have mentioned she gets dropped from their feed by the algorithm), I also am subscribed to her YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@heathercoxrichardson) and, more importantly, her Substack (https://substack.com/@heathercoxrichardson).
I prefer to read her daily letter, but she does provide a daily video as well as reads her letter aloud for those that prefer a podcast format. These aren’t news so much as recording of history, transcripts for the future to study. The first comment of all her Facebook posts are her sources.
