MY REVIEW

Many a time The Awkward Yeti comic has appeared in my Facebook and meme feeds from friends, acquaintances, and suggested posts. While not one of my daily amusements, I realized I had read it enough I should send some appreciation the author’s way so he could continue to write this highly entertaining webcomic.

So I bought a book with Awkward Yeti, featuring the characters “Heart and Brain” and enjoyed revisiting old FB memes and discovering new comics. The Brain waking the Awkward Yeti in the middle of the night with long-forgotten social disasters. The Heart running off in every direction trying to find its passion. The butterfly drifting through adding lively hope. And a couple times the stomach popping up with its own special demands, such as during a serious discussion about the most pressing questions of the time – world peace, does alien intelligence exists, and should we order nachos or pizza. (both please)

If you like Awkward Yeti, send some Heart the author’s way by buying one of his books. Or if you find truth in the Awkward Yeti’s humor, send some Brain the author’s way by posting a review from his book.

Author Spotlight: Sarah Andersen

If you have spent any time on the interwebs, you have had Sarah’s Scribbles forward to you at least once. This lovely awkward, happy woman often pops up with words of silliness and wisdom in my Facebook stream.

I’ve enjoyed the webcomic enough I thought I would send the author a little support so she can continue to create more of these comics I’ve enjoyed so much therefore Book Was Purchased. (Make more, Sarah Andersen, please.)

“Adulthood is a Myth” contained some old and NEW favorites. For example: 

“So what are your hobbies?” 
“Well I go on Wikipedia, and I’ll read an interesting page and follow the links to OTHER cool pages … then I’ll read those. I could do it all day!” (other speaker response blank) Sara blinks before responding with a touch of confusion. “Is that not a valid hobby?”

If you would consider Wikipedia-rabbit-hole-exploration a valid hobby, then this book is for you!

Flash: Amount to Something

I ran across this prompt when I was doing AtoZ in April 2019:

You’ve just narrowly survived an attack. This random person came out of nowhere with some sort of weapon. It seemed as if they wanted to kill you. But why? You’ve done nothing to them. There’s no reason why someone would want you dead.

What if you found out that this would-be assassin traveled from the future with the intent to kill you?

My answer:

The bad guy, girl, not exactly sure with all the future junk hanging off of them, laid there sparking and twitching.

“What the tarnation was that about?” I scream in their slightly burned face.

“You. You changed everything.”

“Good, bad?”

“Changed.” They whisper fading. I mean really fading – they just fade from view.

“Well, that is just dandy. No hints.” I stop and look around to see if anyone had showed up yet from all that noise, when I realize something. “Hey, I’m famous in the future. Guess I got that going for me. And the teachers said I would never amount to anything.”
